Bring in the Punjabi tinda, the chole becomes extra special. <\/p>\n<p>The food I prepared today inspired by two Punjabi specialties &#8220;chole with Punjabi tinda&#8221; turned out to be excellent. Along with Punjabi tinda, I also added tomatoes and potatoes to chickpea chole. Few teaspoons of kasuri methi livened up the chole with wonderful aroma. <\/p>\n<p>A harmonious, energizing and filling meal! <\/p>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/mahanandi\/images\/punjabitinda\/tindadalimagecopyrighted4.jpg\" class=\"noborder\" alt=\"Punjabi Tinda, Tomato, Cooked Chickpeas\" \/><br \/>\n<small>Tomato, Punjabi Tinda, Cooked Chickpeas<\/small><\/center><\/p>\n<p><strong>Recipe:<\/strong><br \/>\n<small>(for two, for two meals)<\/small><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>1 tablespoon &#8211; ghee<br \/>\n1 onion- finely chopped<br \/>\n4 tomatoes &#8211; finely chopped<br \/>\n1 Punjabi tinda \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u20ac\u0153 Peeled and the white flesh cut to cubes<br \/>\n1 potato &#8211; peeled and cut to cubes<br \/>\n3 cups chickpeas (<strong>cooked to tender<\/strong>)<br \/>\n<small>(Separate <strong>&frac12;- cup<\/strong> chickpeas and puree to smooth. Added to thicken the chole)<\/small><br \/>\n1 tablespoon &#8211; chana masala powder (<a href=\"http:\/\/foodandspice.blogspot.com\/2007\/04\/staple-corner-how-to-make-your-own_14.html\" target=\"_blank\">homemade<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ishopindian.com\/shop\/product.php?productid=21915&#038;cat=0&#038;page=1\" target=\"_blank\">store-bought<\/a>)<br \/>\nChilli powder, salt, and lemon juice &#8211; to taste<br \/>\n1 tablespoon &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ishopindian.com\/shop\/product.php?productid=23454&#038;cat=0&#038;page=1\" target=\"_blank\">kasuri methi<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Heat ghee in a big pot.<br \/>\nAdd onions and tomatoes. Saute to soft mush.<br \/>\nAdd Punjabi tinda and potatoes. Saute to tender.<br \/>\nStir in chickpeas, the chickpea paste, chana masala and chilli powders, and salt.<br \/>\nAdd about one cup of water. Combine. Simmer, covered for about 15 to 20 min.<br \/>\nAt the end, sprinkle the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ishopindian.com\/shop\/product.php?productid=23454&#038;cat=0&#038;page=1\" target=\"_blank\">kasuri methi<\/a> and lemon juice.<br \/>\nMix and serve right away.
