{"id":18,"date":"2005-04-28T09:13:00","date_gmt":"2005-04-28T14:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nandyala.org\/mahanandi\/?p=18"},"modified":"2008-07-05T17:59:20","modified_gmt":"2008-07-06T00:59:20","slug":"potato-kurma","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nandyala.org\/mahanandi\/archives\/2005\/04\/28\/potato-kurma\/","title":{"rendered":"Potato Kurma"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This potato kurma with soya chunks goes great with rice or chapatis\/nans.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Recipe<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>3 to 4 potatoes peeled and cut into cubes<br \/>\n4 juicy tomatoes and 1 onion cut into small pieces<br \/>\nHalf cup peas<br \/>\n1 tsp of ginger,garlic,cilantro paste,<br \/>\n2 tsp coconut powder (fresh or dried)<br \/>\n1 tsp each of red chilli powder, salt and turmeric<br \/>\n<i>popu or tadka<\/i> ingredients (read the preparation)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I also added protein rich soya chunks (the white round ones in the photo below) to this carbo rich curry.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/mahanandi\/images\/potatokurma\/potatokurma1.jpg\" alt=\"Potato Kurma Ingredients\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Add 1 tsp of oil to a hot pan, saute 1 tsp of each cumin, mustard seeds(popu or tadka), when they start to splutter, add garlic ginger cilantro paste, saut\u00c3\u00a9 it, and then add onions, tomatoes and peas.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/mahanandi\/images\/potatokurma\/potatokurma2.jpg\" class=\"alignleft\" alt=\"First step \" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/mahanandi\/images\/potatokurma\/potatokurma3.jpg\" class=\"alignright\" alt=\"Final step\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once the tomatoes are well cooked and juicy, add potatoes, soya chunks, salt, red chilli powder, coconut powder, turmeric and little bit of water. Cook them covered, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are tender, for about 10 to 15 mts, on medium flame.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/mahanandi\/images\/potatokurma\/potatokurma4.jpg\" alt=\"Potato Kurma with Chapatis\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Chapati and potato kurma, yum&#8230;. this is good eating.
