I liked the ingredients and nutritional aspects of this curry and also the quick way it can be made. <\/p>\n<p>I followed <a href=\"http:\/\/srefoodblog.blogspot.com\/2005\/06\/cabbage-and-beans-paruppu-usili.html\">Shammi&#8217;s recipe<\/a> mostly.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/mahanandi\/images\/paruppuusli\/paruppuusli2.jpg\" class=\"alignright\" alt=\"Toor dal-Chana dal, red chilli paste and in the background finely chopped green beans and onions - Ingredients for Paruppu Usili\" \/><\/p>\n<p>-Soaked two fistfuls each of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ishopindian.com\/shop\/catalog\/Nirav-Toor-Dal-Unoily-Madhi-p-21680.html\">toor dal <\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ishopindian.com\/shop\/catalog\/Nirav-Chana-Dal-Bengal-Gram-p-21667.html\">chana dal<\/a> overnight. <\/p>\n<p>-Grinded the dals with half tsp of salt and six dry red chillies and pinch of hing into coarse matter, without adding any water.<br \/>\n-Fresh green beans are the vegetable I chose to make Parappu Usli.<br \/>\n-I chopped beans, one medium sized onion and one garlic clove finely.<\/p>\n<p>Did the <i>popu <\/i> (frying mustard seeds, cumin and curry leaves in 1 tsp of oil), then added onions and garlic, saut\u00c3\u00a9ed them for few minutes. Then added the coarsely grounded dal paste and green beans. Cooked them covered on <strong>low medium heat<\/strong> for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
