The way you cook reminds me of my mom. maadi kooda raayalaseema and chinnapudu mahanandi ki chaaaaala sarlu vellam.nice place. And, the step-by-step instructions with snaps is amazing. Hats of to your patience and skill. Is that you in the picture – ‘calm, confident and content’ on top of website?? I think I know the person in picture. was wondering it if was you, though Indira is not name of person I know.

Hello Indira! My first comment here. I only discovered your blog last week and finished reading it end to end in a single sitting. Great work!
Welcome to Seattle! Contrary to what anyone might have told you, Seattle is a great city and not a rainy city. I have lived here for the last 8 years and I have never felt that Seattle is a rainy city. It does rain – but I think the climate is very comfortable during anytime of the year when compared to places like new york, washington dc etc.. No extreme heat or cold weather.
I hope you love it here. Please feel free to contact me if you need any help in the new place.
Comment by SUbha — August 17, 2006 @ 7:12 pm

Hi Indira,
I read your blog almost every day because I love to try out all your yummy recipes (the red bell pepper chutney is my favorite so far). I have never commented but just couldn’t resist when I saw that you are moving to Seattle, the place that I was born and raised! Seattle is a very comfortable and pretty city. Be sure to take a day trip on the ferry boat to Bainbridge island or if you have more time go north (by the border) to the San Juan Islands (SO beautiful!!)… now I’m getting homesick. 🙁
HAPPY TRAVELS!

Welcome to the beautiful Evergreen State Indira, I lived here for 5 years, believe me the rain never bothers you once you call this your home 🙂 I started looking at your website a few weeks back, realized that you are pretty popular with my friends too, who forgot to mention your site to me.
We live on the east side in Redmond, feel free to contact us if you have any Q’s about places to go. I am an organic gardener myself and love cooking, hope to meet you sometime. I knew that you were moving to Seattle from a friend who called me today. Welcome to the most beautiful place in the Northwest area, I am sure you will love it. Have a safe move.

Dear Indira!
Wish you good luck with the move! When I came to Houston after my marriage, I knew nothing about cooking and gave hard time to my hubbie who is a big freak of food :). I came to know about you through my friend and started trying the authentic recipes from your website. They not only made me a good cook but also gave me enough confidence to invite friends to party.
My husband loves almost all the dishes and especially your avocado mantra to make chapaties… this helps make puffy chapaties very fast and with great ease..
Looking fwd to see more recipes from Seattle.
Have a safe journey and lots n lots of fun in Seattle.
Cheers,

Hi Indira, comment 49 mentioned the SI food on the East Side. Well the dishes are ok, but the cocunut chutney is abysmal. I talked to the cook and he tells me that they made it that way to appease the general clientele.
I am NOT being a chutney snob, but just cocunut + red chillies + salt do not a cocunut chutney make. I hope you can influence them to make authentic SI cocunut chutney 😀

Hi Indira,
First of all let me thank you for all the wonderful recipes and the Mouth-watering pics that you post for each recipe! Never a cooking enthusiast, I totally agree that your site inspired me to do some cooking. And welcome to Seattle, I think its one of the best places to live in, even with Rain! 🙂
Comment by Meghana — September 11, 2006 @ 8:07 pm
Happen to wander in to your site and I am happy that I did. You have recieved so much acclaim that the marginal joy from this post is probably next to nothing (Law of diminishing marginal utility), but I will put in my two words anyways.
I like (Like a million others here) your presentation style, and infact my first reaction after visiting this site is kind of sense of pride ( A telugu person is using blog as a medium for recepies — emphasis is not on Telugu , but technology) , I did my first blog three years ago and it never occured to me that it can be used this way.
I think we share a couple of interests here , photography and cooking. I am a part time cook , but I love experimenting. (Hate to measure any thing while cooking and I never taste any thing until it is served)
Hey , congratulations for the good work and the greate reviews your work is getting. Keep it up. Gotta go, it is 2.20 AM already.

Hi Indira,
I hope you are getting emails. I want you to see this issue where an Indian student was killed in Russia for hate. We need to protest against this hate crime . First I thought I would post it on my blog. But if you post it, I think it would get a better exposure than mine.
This is the blog link – Some of it is in Malayalam.

This post was posted by that killed guys friend. None of the mainstream Indian media has this news. But Reuters has this news. Indian Embassy is not very supportive it seems.
How dare they?
I apologize if you think this comment should not be put here. It is okay if you think it is not a trivial issue also. Was just trying to get this issue a good exposure – thats all.

I wanted to be the 100th person to comment on this post. But ah! too much rush here by your loyal fans 🙂 Have you started getting letters written in blood? hehehehe..
Hope you had a good move and got your kitchen items and your laptopn intact..thats all matters:-)
Indira replies:
I went through the link you have provided and felt sad after reading what happened. What a loss, I can’t imagine the parents grief. All because of hate.
I couldn’t understand what was written in Malayalam. If there is a call to campaign or action plan, I would definitely lend my support. Thanks InjiPennu for posting about this here.Loss of precious life is a never a trivial issue in my eyes.
Move went well. We are slowly settling in Seattle. Thanks for your wishes.

Indira, Great to hear from you. I have posted a page on my blog. If we all could atleast post a page, I think that would get some attention from our media. Can you imagine our print media who would devote pages to Ssalman’s affairs is so mum about it. Especially rediff which is an online media catering to NRI’s mostly! Maybe they dont have readership in Russia!! Grr..

Indiraaaaa,
Thats just great! I dont think we would get many entries for Winter. So you could do Winter 2006 and 2007 Summer too. You hosting it would just great!! Best person to host it.

oops Indira, I spoke too fast. Mandira had send me an email yesterday.I only checked it today.
She says she wants to see some green in cold buffalo during Winter. So she would host the Winter event and you could host the Summer event (which will be more work…hehehe)
Here is Mandiras blog.

Indira replies:
